An application of the Cimmino projection method to the solution of linear equations arising in the solution of boundary-value problems of ordinary differential equations by a difference method is investigated. The modified Cimmino algorithm converges rapidly to the solution of corresponding linear system Ax = b provided some practical estimations of the diagonal dominance of AAT hold. The algorithm is effectively implementable on vector and multiprocessor computers. © 1995.
