This book, now available in four languages (Italia, English, Spanish, Portuguese), brings to light a school of economic thought – the civil economy one – that was prevalent in Europe until the second half of the XVIII century, when it was superseded by the political economy school inaugurated by Adam Smith. After illustrating the main features of the civil economy paradigm, the book sets up to discuss the reasons why in the last quarter of the century this paradigm is re-emerging, attracting more and more attention from a vast audience.
