It was rneant to be the initial volume of a series of books promoting the architectural and social vision of Le Corbusier and orher architects. Despite the innovativeness of the idea of popularizing architecture and urban planning through books and other media, it remained unpubished. This book is the first to present Scheidegger's images of Chandigarh, including some very rare ones in color, together with the facsimile of the rnock-up of the proposed book. The essays explore the history and importance of Chandigarh, and in particular the contriburions made to the project by Le Corbusier"s collaborators Pierre ]eanneret, lane B. Drew and E. Maxwell Fry. An additional essay looks at Scheidegger's specific view of Chandigarh and how the city has been represented in photography in general.
