In this paper simple theoretical and experimental procedures are presented in order to assess the surface resistivity and shielding effectiveness of electrically conductive textiles. Whereas predictions of the shielding effectiveness may be difficult, the surface resistivity can be estimated quite accurately with a simple method. Two methods for the measurement of the shielding effectiveness of conductive textiles are employed, the former makes use of a flanged circular coaxial transmission-line holder and the latter of a shielded enclosure with a hatch. Some results of predictions and measurements are shown.

Abstract

In this paper simple theoretical and experimental procedures are presented in order to assess the surface resistivity and shielding effectiveness of electrically conductive textiles. Whereas predictions of the shielding effectiveness may be difficult, the surface resistivity can be estimated quite accurately with a simple method. Two methods for the measurement of the shielding effectiveness of conductive textiles are employed, the former makes use of a flanged circular coaxial transmission-line holder and the latter of a shielded enclosure with a hatch. Some results of predictions and measurements are shown.
