MERYC2009. Proceedings of the 4th Conference of the European Network of Music Educators an Researchers of Young Children

The aim of MERYC, the European Network of Music Educators and Researchers of Young Children, is to create a forum for European Research and practice in early childhood music education and to encourage greater communication and collaboration between researchers and practitioners across European countries. There has never before been such a strong collection of papers and presentations on the topic of early childhood music across Europe. It says something important about the quantity and quality of work that all the participants of this COnference have been working hard to achieve and now come together to share. Not only that, but it ia also contains papers that are stronglyroated in practice, papers that discuss theoretical and philosophical ideas and papers that report on experimental studies. It is always a challenge for education to integrate these many different dimensions so that are heard in equal balance and with equal status.
