This paper is about academic Spin-Off (SO) in Italy. It offers an overview of the Italian debate both in academic and in policy-making circuits. First, national and regional policies are analysed. Second, universities practices are described. Then, the paper presents data on how this phenomenon has quickly grown in the last decade.
