This study aims at optimizing the management service of urban solid and special assimilated waste (RSU and RSA) in the Taro and Ceno valleys. Currently, the municipalities that for such service flow in the Mountain Comunity of Taro and Ceno valleys (hereinafter CMTC) are fifteen: Albareto, Bardi, Bedonia, Berceto, Bore Borgo Val di Taro, Compiano, Fornovo of Taro, Pellegrino Parmense, Solignano, Terenzo, Tornolo, Valmozzola, Varano Melegari and Varsi. The first part of the study closely examines the demographic and spatial aspects, describes the situation of the service, or the production of waste, the system of collection, transportation and destination of waste streams themselves. The second part, in order to optimize the management and service costs, proposes a new organizational model, taking into account the peculiarities of the hilly territory and its criticalities. In particular we highlight the environmental, management and economics aspects of CMTC to increase the collection at affordable costs and reach the goals set by current regulations and the Waste Management Plan of Parma Province.
