The article presents a theoretical account of the morphological phenomenon known as parasynthesis in compounding, i.e. a word formation process consisting in the merger of two lexical stems with a derivational affix. The analysis aims at showing that a constructionist account cannot be successfully applied to a crucial set of Slavic data. Instead, a configurational analysis implying a severe mapping between the morpho-syntactic and semantic structure is able to account for the Slavic data as well as for the data from other I.E. languages.

Abstract
The article presents a theoretical account of the morphological phenomenon known as parasynthesis in compounding, i.e. a word formation process consisting in the merger of two lexical stems with a derivational affix. The analysis aims at showing that a constructionist account cannot be successfully applied to a crucial set of Slavic data. Instead, a configurational analysis implying a severe mapping between the morpho-syntactic and semantic structure is able to account for the Slavic data as well as for the data from other I.E. languages.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
