Cultural Heritage (CH) is the result of continuously new mutating actions: physical aspect, social value and use of places are built and modified due to the presence and role of institutions, companies, associations and citizens. Historic centres, suffering of degradations, social conflicts and poor liveability, need concurred regeneration interventions able to improve their environmental conditions as well as their accessibility: these actions have to overcome tangible and intangible barriers. The H2020 ROCK research project (Regeneration and Optimisation of Cultural heritage in creative and Knowledge cities), coordinated by the Municipality of Bologna in close collaboration with the University of Bologna, aims to demonstrate how European historical centres can become permanent laboratories for testing new models of urban regeneration. Accessibility is one of the four macro-objectives pursued by the demo activities carried out in the Bologna case study: the paper describes the methodological approach and the results obtained.
