The growing significance of the administration of justice in democratic – and also non-democratic – countries, often labeled as “the judicialization of politics”, has triggered a new and stronger interest in the analysis of judicial institutions. At the same time, the expansion of the role of courts in the political system has often generated reactions, both positive and negative. The book profits from and extended experience of teaching and research in the field in order to go behind traditional legal analysis and provide a clear but exhaustive synthesis of the phenomenon and of all its traits. The aim is to allow a deeper understanding of the concrete dynamics characterizing the judicial system and its relationships with the political environment as well as providing a balanced assessment of the process of judicialization.
