New polarisation WSRT data at 13 cm and earlier VLA data at 3.6, 6, and 21 cm, for 65 radio sources from the B3-VLA CSS sample, enable a more reliable determination of integrated RM, and RM dispersion. We find that the RM dispersion shows a dependence on both z and LS. We discuss these dependences in terms of a depolarising Faraday curtain, with a King-like distribution of the magneto-ionic medium, which is produced by either a smooth or a clumpy medium.

Abstract

New polarisation WSRT data at 13 cm and earlier VLA data at 3.6, 6, and 21 cm, for 65 radio sources from the B3-VLA CSS sample, enable a more reliable determination of integrated RM, and RM dispersion. We find that the RM dispersion shows a dependence on both z and LS. We discuss these dependences in terms of a depolarising Faraday curtain, with a King-like distribution of the magneto-ionic medium, which is produced by either a smooth or a clumpy medium.
