The Val di Sasso Hermitage is located near Fabriano (m 650 slm). Since 2009, the whole complex has been affected by an extensive renovation by the property (Regione Marche), which also involved extensive archaeological investigations. The church of Santa Maria di Val di Sasso is the only setting of the convent complex which has returned an intact stratigraphic context, dating back from 13th to 17th century. The excavation revealed the presence of three phases relating to the life of the complex as it was a Benedictine monastery, at the last sixteenth-century extension and has returned numerous coins of silver and copper and some devotional objects from the mass grave, including rosary grains and devotional medals. The recovered skeletal remains were studied by the Department of Anthropological Physics and Ancient DNA at the University of Bologna, home of Ravenna.

Abstract
The recovered skeletal remains were studied by the Department of Anthropological Physics and Ancient DNA at the University of Bologna, home of Ravenna.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
