"La parola del pensiero". Dietro le quinte del Glossarium di Carl Schmitt

The essay analyses the new and updated edition of Carl Schmitt’s Glossarium (2015), which includes two books that had been excluded from the first edition (1991). The author examines some nodal points of Schmitt’s thought (the nomos, the Katechón, the war, the ius publicum europaeum, the relationship between truth and history, the political). The new edition of the Glossarium allows us to acquire a better understanding of the relationship subsisting between the specific juridico-political conception adopted by Schmitt and his anti-Semitism, and shed light on the function played by the latter in Schmitt’s thought. Moreover, the essay contains an unpublished correspondence between some prominent figures of the German culture (including Reinhart Koselleck and Ernst-Wolfgang Böckenförde) in the light of which it is possible to reconstruct the long editorial history of the Glossarium.
