This paper presents, through a literature review, some of the major initiatives that tried to popularize books in Brazil and reach new readers, leading to the creation of paperback collections. As a result, we observed that, despite the existence of paperbacks in the country is not something recent, each period favored certain audiences, editorial features, sales strategies and promotion, revealing the relationship of these collections with the socioeconomic context in which they were produced.

Abstract
