The article discusses the main features of the book sales channels, especially the paperback channels. It indicates how the representations of bibliographic collections are influenced by the places where they are exposed and marketed. It points out that, for centuries, each channel favored certain profiles of readers, although its boundaries have attenuated in recent decades. It states that some channels such as the doorstep, the mail order, the Book Club and the internet, are more fluid and do not have the rigidity of the identified division between the bookstore and alternative channels such as newsstands, supermarket and train station. It concludes that the conflicts around the representations of sales channels eased in recent years, but still help to explain our relationship with certain genres, collections and spaces offering books.

Abstract
The article discusses the main features of the book sales channels, especially the paperback channels. It indicates how the representations of bibliographic collections are influenced by the places where they are exposed and marketed. It points out that, for centuries, each channel favored certain profiles of readers, although its boundaries have attenuated in recent decades. It states that some channels such as the doorstep, the mail order, the Book Club and the internet, are more fluid and do not have the rigidity of the identified division between the bookstore and alternative channels such as newsstands, supermarket and train station. It concludes that the conflicts around the representations of sales channels eased in recent years, but still help to explain our relationship with certain genres, collections and spaces offering books.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
