This being the first editorial that I have written since joining the editorial team, I would like to start by expressing my gratitude to my experienced colleagues – Rod and Jan – and to my mentor – Pamela – for the invaluable guidance and support they have provided during this transition period. Coming from a professional background at the intersection of practice and research, I am deeply honoured to be contributing to the furthering of the work undertaken by TACTYC’s committed team of scholars and professionals, who are advocating for a continuing improvement of children’s and families’ experiences in ECEC settings by nurturing early years professionals’ reflection and development. This task is represented in the papers included in this issue, which explore – in multiple directions – the inextricable interplay of academic research, policy advocacy, professional development and transformative practice in the early years sector.
