The European Union Project REORIENT, developed in the years 2005, 2006 and 2007 in collaboration with ISDEFE (Madrid), DLR (Koeln, Germany), TOI (Oslo), University of Maryland (College Park, MD, USA), DEMIS (Delft, The Netherlands) and Napier University Edinburgh, UK) had as main goal the study of technical and administrative barriers in international "rail freight corridors" and the development of effective algorithms, and the implementation of the corresponding computer codes, for their effective management.
