The paper describes the correspondence between Carlo Ludovico Ragghianti and Carlo Antoni, two famous intellectuals of the 20th century, both Benedetto Croce’s pupils. Their epistolary relationship developed from 1942 until 1959, when Antoni died at the age of 62. Their letters focus on different topics: theoretical questions, editorial initiatives, and political affiliations; they show a special affinity, due to the fact that Antoni was particularly interested in the artistic dimension and in the meaning of history, while Ragghianti was very concerned with political theory. Actually, this remarkable consonance took the form of a common battle in the name of freedom and criticism.
