Design is undergoing a great transformation due to the introduction of new technical tools, new models and organisational systems and new missions, the connotations of which are not yet completely clear. What does design mean today? Who is being designed for? What value does the activity yield? How is design linked to the production process? What is the relationship with those who commission the project? But above all, who are today’s project commissioners? Beginning with the concept of the mutating city, or rather the city as a living organism that evolves over time in relation to the circumstances and needs of its inhabitants; this paper deals with the issue of technologies that enable new ‘continuous’ project production methods in response to some of the above questions.
La progettazione è un’attività in grande trasformazione a causa dell’introduzione di nuovi strumenti tecnici, nuovi modelli e sistemi organizzativi e nuove mission, i cui connotati non sono ancora del tutto chiari. Cosa significa progettare oggi? Per chi si progetta? Qual è il valore aggiunto di tale attività? Come si colloca la progettazione nel processo produttivo? Qual è il rapporto con la committenza? Ma soprattutto, chi è oggi la committenza? A partire dal concetto di città mutante, ossia di città come organismo vivente che muta nel tempo in rapporto al contesto e ai bisogni dei suoi abitanti, il contributo affronta il tema delle tecnologie che abilitano nuove modalità di produzione “in continuo” del progetto, in risposta ad alcuni dei quesiti sopracitati.
