Du «procès spectacle » au fait social. Historiographie de la médiatisation des procès en Union soviétique [Dal 'processo spettacolo' al fatto sociale. Storiografia della copertura mediatica dei processi in Unione Sovietica]

The text presents a state of the art on the topic of so-called Soviet 'show trials'. Returning to the origins of this expression in the 1920s, it explores the various understandings of the phenomenon of public and mediatized political trials in the Soviet Union, notably of its political usages. Taking the reader in a tour through the literature dealing with the topic, the article also shows how the reflection on theatricality, spectacle and fiction transformed through time, academic schools, access of the archives. The concept of “show trial” ultimately appears too restrictive and narrow to describe what was really at stake during these legal spectacles. Specifically, it fails to grab the social dimension of these events.

Il testo presenta uno stato dell'arte sul tema dei cosiddetti "processi spettacolo" sovietici. Ritornando alle origini di questa espressione negli anni '20, esplora le varie interpretazioni del fenomeno dei processi politici pubblici e mediatizzati in Unione Sovietica, in particolare dei suoi usi politici. Portando il lettore in un tour attraverso la letteratura che si occupa dell'argomento, l'articolo mostra anche come la riflessione sulla teatralità, lo spettacolo e la finzione si sia trasformata attraverso il tempo, le scuole accademiche, l'accesso agli archivi. Il concetto di "show trial" appare in definitiva troppo restrittivo e ristretto per descrivere ciò che era realmente in gioco durante questi spettacoli legali. In particolare, non riesce a cogliere la dimensione sociale di questi eventi.
