This article analyses a large funerary stele, found as early as 1500 in Bologna area and datable to the end of the Republican age. The iconography and writing of the three liberti represented here are compared; on the basis of this comparison, the document is placed in relation with the Augustan policy on the territory, especially the colonization documented by literary and archaeological sources.
