Abstract

International exhibitions, as well as great national fairs, were temporary and fleeting playgrounds where it was possible either to experiment with new display devices or to interpret already tested solutions. Focusing on the less-studied twentieth century, this volume looks in greater depth at how science and technology have been materially transmitted through these mega events, which objects the organizers and the communities behind these exhibitions have displayed, which narratives of science have been staged, and what roles have historical scientific artifacts played.
