The course will review statistical methods used in paleontology. Concurrently, the course will offer practical training in statistical analysis (PAST, SAS and SAS/IML software) as well as in reporting data and results. In addition to the classic parametric methods, the course will cover the computer-intensive statistical strategies such as bootstrapping and Monte Carlo methods. The school will target graduate students, post-doctoral associates, and other post-graduate researchers interested in conducting paleontological research. However, most of the materials covered in the course will be useful to all students and researchers in geo- and biosciences, who are interested in using quantitative data in their research.
