Dār al-islām / dār al-ḥarb is a rich volume, and its topic is extremely complex. In this review I highlight some of the central ideas emerging from the book, as well some of its merits and drawbacks. I avoid describing the single chapters one by one. In all, there are 19 chapters, plus the ‘Introduction’ and ‘Concluding Remarks’ focused on terminology. I also draw attention to some important additional source materials relevant to the topic at issue.
