The goal of the research was to analyse the changes in the main natural and anthropic systems that structure rural landscapes of various parts of Italy, with an emphasis on the post–World War II period, characterized by reconstruction developments that set off considerable social and economic phenomena. The strategic goal was then to assess land–use trends and find out the major driving forces contributing to landscape change, in order to define future scenarios for what concerns the natural, structural and socio–economic systems.
