Agent-based Modelling and Simulation

The usage of agent-based techniques for the modelling and simulation of many different kinds of systems has much increased over the last decades. Agent-based modelling is now being used for the study of many areas spanning technical, human, social, behavioral, cultural, physical and biological systems. The research work on this field has involved both the theoretical study of agent-based systems and the issues related to the implementation of efficient frameworks to support the evaluation of agent-based models. More in detail, the last years have seen a widespread adoption of cloud-based and GPU/multi-core/many-core infrastructures that need to be specifically supported by the simulation frameworks. Thirteen papers are selected from earlier submissions; all of them have been reviewed by qualified anonymous referees according to the practices of this journal.
