The production of biomass-derived vehicle fuel on a large scale will contribute to reduce greenhouse gas and pollution, increase the security of European energy supplies, and enhance the use of renewable energy. The Varnamo Biomass Gassification Centre in Sweden is an important site for the investigation of innovative technologies to convert the produced gas from biomass to liquid fuels. The work overviews the process and requested upgrades, focusing on the problem related to working with a feedstock with high contents of potential contaminants for the upgrading units.

Abstract

The production of biomass-derived vehicle fuel on a large scale will contribute to reduce greenhouse gas and pollution, increase the security of European energy supplies, and enhance the use of renewable energy.
