This paper analyzes some temporal contexts that exhibit the general-factual value of the imperfective verbal aspect in Bulgarian. The first part examines the three main types of general-factual meaning in aorist, perfect, and imperfect tense (‘referential’, ‘existential’ and ‘atelic’). We show that these meanings are rendered by imperfective verbs in each of the aforementioned tenses. The second part or the paper focuses on the general-factual meaning of Bulgarian future tensed verbs that proves be the basic meaning for the imperfective aspect in this temporal context.
