Abstract

In Pavese's work we can find some keywords, tied with the countrylife and wirh the ancestral fears of countrymen. There are some links with the poetry of Sappho, to whom Pavese loved to compare himself. A great importance must be attributed to the image of the "snake", that Pavese can identify both in Sappho's and in Hesiod's poetry, and then transfer into his "Dialoghi con Leucò".
