Field of the present survey is the pulmonary system of Cesenatico canal harbor and the near North coastal zone characterized by submerged continue breakwaters. During summer and in dry weather conditions freshwater coming from wastewater treatments outfall almost constantly into transition volumes and sea outlet provides to regulate discharge into sea according with unsteady tidal flow. A 3D model application have used to define investigation area as interested by canal discharging plume in summer steady weather conditions. A monitoring campaign in Cesenatico along-shore area is carried out in order to obtain morphologic, hydraulic and water quality data. In particular measurements have been executed into transition estuary and sea outlet of the harbor canal and in internal/ external area of North Cesenatico breakwaters. A wall effect on freshwater distribution plume has been observed in seawater profiles internal to submerged continue breakwaters. Differently from what registered for discontinue emerged breakwaters this effect permits the maintaining of thermoaline stratification during all tidal phases in the internal near breakwaters sea area deeper than 1.0 meters.

Abstract
Differently from what registered for discontinue emerged breakwaters this effect permits the maintaining of thermoaline stratification during all tidal phases in the internal near breakwaters sea area deeper than 1.0 meters.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
