Steel reinforced polymer (SRP) composites have become an interesting addition to the realm of fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) composites for strengthening applications of reinforced concrete structures. As premature debonding of the composite is the most common type of failure, this paper investigates the interfacial properties of SRP-concrete joints. Single-lap shear tests are performed to determine the interfacial fracture parameters. Parameters investigated are the density of the steel fibers and the face to which the composite is applied. A comparison between single-lap and notched beam tests is carried out. Finally, an alternative method to compute the interfacial fracture energy is proposed.

Abstract
