Since 2004, I have been coordinating a Japanese language theater group, i.e., Gruppo di Teatro Giapponese SsenzaLiMIT. One of main goals of the project is to teach the Japanese language and culture through performing arts. The majority of our performers are Italian learners of Japanese studying in the Department of Interpreting and Translation of the University of Bologna. Every year we produce a full-fledged theater piece, writing an original script, and we perform in one of major theaters in Forlì (Italy). This is the ninth production of the group. The work is inspired by one of most famous Japanese ghost stories, "Yotsuya Kaidan," dealing with classic themes of Japanese ghost stories such as karma and the salvation of the soul.
