The article briefly sketches where we stand now in studying Marcus, disciple of Valentinus, and the movement he founded and took the lead of. In so doing, it attempts to offer a provisionary reconstruction of the ritual meals and ecstatic practices Marcus' adherents seem to have indulged in.
