Eco-economy and society

The topic faced by this research project asks us to focus on a central theme, i.e. the combination of objectives concerning environmental equilibria, social well-being and economic growth. These objectives were already pointed out internationally from the early 1970s, when leaders in the most industrialized countries, shaken by the world economic crisis, began to reflect on the problems posed by non-renewable resources. This led, in the next twenty years, to theories and policymaking that centred around the concept of sustainable development. Taking this outline as a starting point, the objective of this project is to individuate a path of integrated convergence concerning such critical elements that may make it possible to define the formulation of European policies capable of combining economic, social and ecological objectives. The research will focus the critical factors we consider essential for such a combination. They have been drafted in such a way as to oblige the research process to integrate the different scientific disciplines and to integrate the different national perspectives.
