Bambine, bambini e adolescenti nei Tacuina sanitatis miniati dei secoli XIV e XV

The essay explores what historians of medieval childhood can infer from the illuminated Tacuina sanitatis (14th - 15th centuries), collections of rules and recommen- dations for the preservation of good health. They are based on precepts governing diet and healthy lifestyle. These miniatures have been, and continue to be, used to illustrate the many and varied issues affecting everyday life. There have also been those who have used them in relation to gender studies, but here they are analysed in the context of childhood, providing a further key to the interpretation of that phase of human life which is increasingly attracting the interest of historians.

Il presente lavoro è basato sull’analisi dei Tacuina sanitatis miniati, al fine di indivi-duare l’apporto che possono offrire alla storia dell’infanzia tardo-medievale. I Tacuina sanitatis sono le raccolte di regole e consigli per la conservazione della buona salute, attraverso la dieta e l'igiene di vita. Le miniature che li illustrano, realizzate fra XIV e XV secolo a corredo del testo, sono state, e continuano a essere, usate in molti e svariati temi della vita quotidiana. Non è mancato anche chi le ha utilizzate negli studi di genere, ma qui si analizzano per trattare l’infanzia e l’adolescenza, offrendo un tassello alla storia di quelle età della vita umana, per le quali l’interesse degli storici è crescente.
