Lawyers who are considered in this paper are called in USA cause-lawyers, in Italy and Frnce activist advocates. They are so called because their commitment n the defence of political activists charged in trials and in the defence of victims of any violence and discrimination.This paper aims to consider in a comparative perspective a group of Italian and French lawyers who practiced along the XXth century. Most of them were political activists and their commitment in acting the legal profession made them witnesses of the XXth century.
