LA PRODUZIONE CERAMICA DELL’ABITATO DI MURSIA. PROPOSTA DI NUOVA CLASSIFICAZIONE TIPOLOGICA DEI MATERIALI DEL SETTORE B.

This paper presents a new proposal of classification of the pottery found at the Bronze Age site of Mursia elaborated by the research group of the University of Bologna, after several campaigns of investigation. Among the methods of evaluation and terminology for the classification of ceramics, it has been assigned more importance to production and functional use of vessels. Especially principles based on the presence of handles and on the rate between diameter and height allow to suggest ancient procedures and use of each category and consequently to aid operators in cataloguing finds. This proposal is therefore useful as reference grid for the classification of pottery from sector B of Mursia and for a comparison with other studies and investigations devoted to the Bronze Age of the Italian Peninsula and Sicily.

Il recupero dei reperti ceramici avvenuto nelle ultime campagne di scavo ha costituito l'occasione per riformulare i criteri e la nomenclatura per la classificazione della produzione ceramica di Mursia. Il contributo prende in esame una nuova proposta di tipologia in cui è stato assegnato un maggiore ruolo agli aspetti produttivi e alle funzioni delle categorie identificabili dai frammenti ceramici. I criteri adottati assegnano ai tipi di impugnatura e all'indice di profondità delle forme ceramiche un valore che permetta di identificare le modalità d'uso dei contenitori e di conseguenza strutturare la catalogazione dei reperti. La proposta è funzionale pertanto alla redazione di una griglia di riferimento per gli operatori che si occupano della classificazione dei manufatti ceramici del settore B di Mursia e al confronto con le altre ricerche sull'età del Bronzo in ambito peninsulare e siciliano.
