Le livre reprend en quatre chapitres la répartitions des leçons qui ont été présentées au Collège de France en mars 2007. L'auteur y rassemble et analyse les témoignages archéologiques du Fars hellénistique, quand bien ils restent encore peu nombreux. C'est la première fois qu'une telle monographie est menée à bien dans une perspective qui vise à situer cette documentation dans son contexte historique et culturel. Tout en restant fragmentaire et lacunaire en raison de cette rareté de documentation, le livre représente une contribution novatrice dans le champo des études sur la civilisation iranienne, mais aussiu dans le champ des études hellénistiques. This book is dedicated to the archaeological evidence of the Hellenistic period in Fars, spanning from the end of the Achaemenid period to the development of local aristocracy of Arsacid age after the end of the Seleucid domination. The division in four chapters corresponds with the division between the four lessons which were held at the Collège de France in March 2007. Thus the whole of the archaeological evidence is grouped according to the main themes of landscape and settlements (Ch. 1), of religious architecture (Ch. 2), of the Hellenistic artistic heritage (Ch. 3) and of the traditions followed by the local aristocracy (Ch. 4). It is the first comprehensive monograph dedicated to this subject, complementing the study carried out by J. Wiesehöfer in the field of historiography. Despite the fragmentary state of the evidence, the book offers an innovative contribution to the knowledge of the archaeology of Fars and particularly to the study of Hellenism in Iran. Il volume raccoglie i testi delle quattro lezioni svolte presso il Collège de France, prestigiosa opportunità offerta annualmente dal Collège a due studiosi che si siano distinti nel loro campo in ambito internazionale. Ogni lezione tratta il tema del periodo ellenistico nel Fars ed in genere in Iran in merito ad un diverso aspetto dell’archeologia: la prima lezione è dedicata agli insediamenti abitati nel passaggio dal periodo achemenide a quello ellenistico, la seconda all’architettura religiosa, la terza alla presenza ellenistica nelle produzioni artigianali, la quarta alla tradizione culturale locale dei dinasti del Fars indipendente. Si tratta di una monografia originale, la prima dedicata sino ad oggi all’argomento, che segna un contributo decisivo nel campo degli studi sull’ellenismo orientale e dell’archeologia del mondo iranico.
