We propose a knowledge based decision support system for fund raising management, which uses fuzzy logic to evaluate the most promising strategies. Our approach exploits economic modelling and operational results, which stress that donors' profiles affect the probability of giving, allowing a more efficient management of the information on potential donors, and improving current approac hes. The first experiments show that knowledge based systems are particularly suitable to solve this class of problems both for their ability to manage also qualitative and uncertain information, and to explicitly represent the knowledge of the fund raiser. The results, obtained with simulated data, show the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

Abstract
We propose a knowledge based decision support system for fund raising management, which uses fuzzy logic to evaluate the most promising strategies. Our approach exploits economic modelling and operational results, which stress that donors' profiles affect the probability of giving, allowing a more efficient management of the information on potential donors, and improving current approac hes. The first experiments show that knowledge based systems are particularly suitable to solve this class of problems both for their ability to manage also qualitative and uncertain information, and to explicitly represent the knowledge of the fund raiser. The results, obtained with simulated data, show the effectiveness of the proposed approach.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
