Two families of strongly luminescent silicon nanocrystals (SiNCs) cofunctionalized with dodecyl chains and pyrene chromophores perform as lightharvesting antennae and interact with carbon allotropes. The energy harvested in the SiNC core can thus be used to populate, for example, the lowest triplet excited state of C60.
