While a vast literature exists on the justice systems, with a few exceptions political science scholars have overlooked the role played by interest groups in this specific field. Accordingly, this contribution is a first attempt to explore lobbying by professional associations, i.e. associations representing corporate interest of both magistrates and lawyers, which have been constantly active in this policy sector throughout the last two decades. After introducing the main characters of this policy field in Italy, the articles depicts the organizational structures of six interest groups, their respective resources and strategies, whether direct or indirect. Subsequently, the analysis of three relevant legislative process tries to shed light on the ability of groups to influence the policy making process.
