History has been quick to recognize the power of perspective that gave form to a “classic” style in painting, but has failed to acknowledge the true significance of complex numbers and probability. Yet, from a theoretical point of view, the space opened by linear perspective to painting and the space opened by complex numbers to science are equally important and share many characteristics.
