We study the possibility for a tridimensional reconstruction of one lobe of the thyroid gland from a single bidimensional echographic or scintigraphic image. From a numerical point of view the scope is to provide an approximation to its volume, besides to a visualization of the gland in space, that is more accurate than the current way of estimating such a volume. We focus on a particular pathology of the thyroid, namely the Plummer nodule. Through the tridimensional information obtained, the aim is to perform both a functional and morphological analysis of the thyroid lobe affected by the Plummer pathology, in order to obtain therapeutic indication, to avoid the surgical extraction of the gland.
