The aim of the school was to provide a broad and up-to-date introduction to two vital areas of research in partial differential equations (PDEs) that have received increasing attention in the past few years: the study of transport equations with irregular coefficients, and the theory of control problems for (linear and nonlinear) hyperbolic equations. There has been also few invited lectures (of one hour each) on topics related to the courses. These courses were attended by over 70 people among Ph.D. students as well as to Post-doctoral and active researchers coming from Italy and eight foreign countries: France, Germany, Poland, Russia, Hungary, Mexico, United States, Tunisia.
