In this short note we consider how the scientific culture is influencing the socio-economic behaviour. We treat the case of gambling habits in an international comparative setting. We find that the higher the scientific culture the lower the economic effort toward gambling. We also show that the government policies may strongly influcence (both in favour or against) gambling habits.

Abstract

In this short note we consider how the scientific culture is influencing the socio-economic behaviour. We treat the case of gambling habits in an international comparative setting. We find that the higher the scientific culture the lower the economic effort toward gambling. We also show that the government policies may strongly influcence (both in favour or against) gambling habits.
