The paper investigates sourcing strategy and relationship management governance of four Chinese subsidiaries of Italian companies operating in different industries. It is shown that product and supply markets characteristics, firm’s strategy and the role of Chinese subsidiaries influence the sourcing decisions of the Chinese activities, in terms of purchased categories, target suppliers, contracts characteristics and supply management practices. The degree of integration and interdependence between firms’ sourcing in China and their global sourcing activity is also analyzed and discussed.
